Stocked Parts
Most of the garage door stock across our Bothell service area went up between 1966 and 2001, with a lot of it dating to the 1980s. Silver Firs sits on the newer end of that range - the typical house here went up around 1997, which puts it a solid decade past the service area median. That matters for rollers because builders in the mid-to-late 90s were already shifting away from the cheap steel roller-on-steel-track setups that dominate older stock. What we find instead in Silver Firs is more galvanized steel rollers on nylon-friendly tracks, sometimes already fitted with 7-ball or 10-ball nylon rollers from the factory. We carry both 7-ball and 10-ball nylon rollers with sealed bearings on the truck, plus the steel rollers for the handful of older doors mixed into the area, so we're not guessing which stem length or ball count a given door takes before we get there. If a track's been bent from a roller that finally seized, we carry replacement track sections too, since swapping the roller alone doesn't fix a door that's been riding crooked for months.
Booking a Visit
We run out of Bothell, about 7 miles from Silver Firs, so a visit here gets scheduled the same way any other stop on that route does - we're not pretending to have a branch or a depot in the neighborhood. When you call, tell us how old the door is and whether it's grinding, catching, or has come off the track entirely, since that changes what we load before we leave. A door that's just loud on the way up is a different job than one hanging on a bent track with two rollers missing. We'd rather ask a few questions up front than show up with the wrong roller count for a double door.
How Long It Takes
A straight roller swap on a double door, where the track is still true and nothing's bent, usually runs under an hour once we're on site. If a roller seized and chewed up the track before anyone noticed, we're pulling and replacing track sections too, which adds time and means lining the new track to the opener and the header before we call it done. Doors from the later part of Silver Firs' build era tend to have decent factory alignment, so we're not usually fighting decades of settling the way we would on an older house - that part of the job goes faster here than it would on 1970s stock.
The Cost of This Job
We don't publish a flat price here because roller count, roller type, and whether the track needs attention all move the number, and we're not going to quote a double-door job the same as a single. What we can tell you is that a 1997-built door in Silver Firs is less likely to need a full track replacement alongside the rollers than an older door elsewhere in the service area, which keeps the job on the smaller end more often than not. One honest limit: if the opener itself is original to the house and struggling, we'll tell you that a roller swap won't fix a failing opener, and we're not going to sell you rollers as a cure for a motor that's on its way out.
